A new California law beginning January 1, 2009 will restrict formaldehyde emissions from various wood products used in furniture and cabinets. Primarily focused on plywood, particleboard and MDF (medium density fiberboard), California furniture retailers have 18 months to sell floor stock of non-compliant product.
At Ideas In Wood, we started switching over to the mateials that comply to the new standards at the beginning of 2008. There is little difference in the material. Has California gone too far or are they leading the pack with this change?
